Clinical trials at Mater: information for industry sponsors

As part of Mater’s commitment to the provision of safe, low-variability, evidence-based healthcare that meets the needs of our community Mater Research is investing in expanding our clinical trials capacity to strengthen partnerships with sponsors, contract research organisation’s and external collaborators.

To secure this investment,  the Mater Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) was established to oversee all clinical trials on the Mater campus.

Our capability

Our core research programs have been developed to align with the priority focus areas of Mater's hospitals and health services.  This ensures that we are aware of our diverse patient cohort interested in participating in research projects.

The CTU has a team of dedicated Research Program Coordinators aligned with these priority areas.

The CTU is the central point contact to:

  • Initiate Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA) and Feasibility Questionnaires
  • Liaise with Contract Research Organization (CRO)
  • Negotiate research budgets using a  standardised cost tool
  • Facilitate the process of ethics and governance submissions and the approval process
  • Provide on-site monitoring for all clinical trials conducted at Mater
  • Deliver Good Clinical Practice training at Mater
  • Cooridnate and manage the essential documentation required for research projects.
