The Respiratory, Infectious Disease and Oncology (RIO) Research Department at Mater Hospital South Brisbane is dedicated to finding better treatments for many types of respiratory conditions.

We need your help.

If you have been diagnosed with a respiratory condition such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or bronchiectasis—and you are interested in joining a trial looking at new treatments for these conditions—please contact our us by phone (07) 3163 1369.

The Respiratory, Infectious Disease and Oncology (RIO) Research Department conducts clinical trials from Phase IB to Phase IV. Our department is currently conducting over 50 clinical studies with over two-thirds consisting of industry sponsored clinical trials.

    Bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, IPF, lung cancer (NSCLC, SCLC) and infectious diseases (including influenza, RSV, RRV, pneumococcal, and more)
    All clinical staff are GCP and IATA certified and combined, offer over 40 years of clinical trial experience.  Furthermore, the department can also provide conduct venepuncture, cannulation, port access, lung function testing, ECGs, obtaining telemetry and sweat chloride testing.
