Barriers and enablers to routine antenatal weighing

Project type/s Qualitative research
Project status Completed

Excessive gestational weight gain could lead to complications in pregnancy. International guidelines recommend routine weighing of women during pregnancy and there is an increasing consensus that assessment of appropriate weight gain should form part of routine antenatal care for all women. This project aims at identifying the challenges in implementing routine weighing of pregnant women booked to deliver at Mater Mothers Hospitals (MMH) and to identify appropriate modifications to practice to optimise maternal and infant outcomes.
