Australia’s only research Centre dedicated to the business and economics of health aims to address fundamental issues in health systems in Australia and globally.

Professor Brenda Gannon joins The University of Queensland’s new Centre for the Business and Economics of Health (CBEH), bringing a wealth of international expertise as Mater Research Institute Chair in Health Economics.

Professor Gannon is an international expert in the field of health and ageing economics and health econometrics and has won over $20 million in collaborative research income with economics, medicine and social science.  
 
Professor Gannon said CBEH conducts research on innovative, effective and cost-effective healthcare solutions and will explore the economic and social benefits of health and healthcare.

“The Centre informs policy and practice through a combination of investigator-led and commercial research projects that are designed to find ways to improve health and wellbeing for all Australians.

“I am delighted to take up this new role, working with world-leading researchers. We have already started on two new projects, in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, led by Professor David McIntyre and in genomics, led by Professor John Prins.”

CBEH is a joint initiative of the University of Queensland’s  Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL), the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences (HaBS) and the Mater Research Institute UQ.
