Angi Bissell – Chief Operating Officer

Angi Bissell

Board Member

Angi is an Allied Health professional with more than 25 years' experience in leading and managing complex teams and organisations.

She completed university degrees in Social Work and Psychotherapy in Scotland before relocating to Australia with her husband and two sons. 

Working across a range of care settings, including custodial environments, hospitals and social welfare organisations, Angi developed a passion for unlocking the potential of people. She returned to study, focusing on business and leadership at Edinburgh University.

She has filled adjunct appointments in a range of academic and clinical schools, most recently partnering with the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology in their business schools.  While there, Angi shared her insights and experiences of managing and leading performance improvement initiatives with Master’s students.

Angi is passionate about building capability at all levels and can be relied upon to have honest and impactful conversations to unlock potential. She supports organisational strategy through the lens of its people, focusing on building strong resilient teams who can manage uncertainty in their business. She understands the need to round out clinical expertise with commercial, business and technical acumen.

Angi joined Mater after nearly nine years at PwC where she led the company’s health and wellbeing practice in Queensland and its national strategic workforce planning team.

She has worked with executive leadership teams in corporate, public and private organisations and has a deep passion for the not-for-profit and for-purpose sector.
