Queensland Family Cohort Study

The proposed Queensland Family Cohort Study will be a longitudinal survey of 10 000 Queensland families, commencing in 2020, with a smaller pilot study being held at Mater Mothers’ Hospital in South Brisbane in late 2018.

A Queensland-wide study, it will address the need to build a comprehensive data repository about the health of Queensland babies and their parents to compare to major birth cohorts in other states.

It will underpin research that aims to:

  • Understand how parental health impacts on babies; and
  • To determine how a baby’s health and exposures in early life influences disease development later on.

Partnerships and collaborations are an essential part of the Queensland Family Cohort Study.
