Mater Research 2024-25 Annual Report

2025 was a landmark year of achievement. Our researchers secured $14.8 million in external funding and published 429 impactful studies spanning all five research programs.

In a landmark year, Mater Research welcomed internationally recognised biomedical scientist Professor Allison Pettit as Executive Director. Professor Pettit’s appointment marks a new era of leadership for Australia’s premier hospital-embedded medical research institute.

From idea to impact, world-leading research teams push the boundaries of science and technology to provide better outcomes for our patients and community. Dedicated to life-changing and life-saving healthcare discoveries across the lifespan, from birth to palliative care, Mater Research pioneers new therapies, runs clinical trials and translates research into real-world treatments.

Our achievements were only made possible thanks to our team of dedicated researchers and professional staff who constantly strive for excellence to improve medical research and who work together to realise our vision to translate research discoveries and integrate them into improved healthcare outcomes.

Mater Research is featured in the Mater Group Annual Report from page 30 - 35.
